Bleach: frosted back

<sub>"Just how many times is that going to go off?" Ichigo demanded as Rukia's cell phone began beeping. They'd been running all over town the entire afternoon and just when they'd finally gotten back to the Kurosaki clinic it had decided to send them off again.

"This time it a voice call." Rukia informed him, flipping the device open and holding it to her ear. The look of relief vanished from her face when the other person began talking.

"Ichigo!" she barked, whipping the phone in front of her and switching it to speaker. A hiss of static filled the room interlaced with broken words.

". . .uki. . Ich. . .go. . .n . . .ear me?"

"Eh? Renji?" Ichigo jumped forward, staring down at the phone's screen. "Oi!! Renji!!! What's going on?" He shouted when only more static hissed through. He was about to grab the phone from Rukia when Renji's voice fizzed through again.

"If you ca. . .ear me, we need help. Soul Society. . . big mess. . . ight now. . . Repeat. . . help . . .Hitsugaya-taicho. . ."

The sound cut to solid static, but throughout Renji's message they could hear sounds of a loosing battle.

"What was that?" Ichigo demanded once the transmission ended.

"I don't know, the signal is gone." Rukia answered, trying to reconnect to Soul Society with no success. "We need to get to Soul Society. Whatever is happening it sounds like it's too much for even a Captain to handle."

"Then let's go." Ichigo retorted, turning to the window and jumping out.

When they reached Urahara's shop, the former captain was waiting for them near the Senkaimon.

"Urahara-san." Ichigo called, running towards him.

"No time." Kisuke interrupted, "I don't know exactly what's going on, but the entire Seireitei is being affected."

"How?" Rukia asked, slowing to a stop in front of him.

"I'm not sure, the communications cut off before I could get anymore information." Kisuke answered, placing a communicator in Ichigo's hand before gesturing to the gateway. "Hurry."

Ichigo nodded once, "Here goes." he acknowledged before running through the gate.

On the other side, Ichigo an Rukia emerged to a black sky with all the nearby buildings heavily damaged. Their breath fanned out in front of them and Ichigo looked up to watch soft white flakes gently from the sky, coating everything with a cold layer of-

"Snow?" the orange haired shinigami gaped.</sub>

*cough* I actually finished the pencil sketch for this back on July 03, 2011 and have had it sitting in my WIPs folder with only base colors for a while now.

I dunno, it was originally supposed to be a "before" picture of another (icky old) pic I did. (boy that's gross to look at. :S ) There was going to be completely different lighting, Ichigo, Rukia and a close up of his red eyes. But~ Ichigo looked awful and I never got to the eyes. So I just finished this on a whim.
I figured people would want to know what's going on etc, so I included the rough storyline above. It's probably pretty poor quality, but it's better than nothing right?
