KH BBS: Sleeping In

<sub>~Sometime around midnight~

Terra's eyes snapped open as he detached his head from the glue sticking his cheek to the pillow. Three times was too many for someone to be slamming doors open in the middle of the night and he had a feeling he knew who it was. Tossing his blankets off, the teen had to keep himself from sprinting down the hall as that would probably result in running into something. He settled for a brisk walk towards the bathroom, reaching it as the door clicked open and Ven swayed into the hallway, not realizing his fellow apprentice was there until he bumped into him. Terra steadied him with a hand on his shoulder, noting how his body vibrated with shivers and he had his arms wrapped around his torso in vain attempt to warm himself in spite of his T-shirt and shorts. In a few words, the blond looked awful.
"Eh? T'terra?" Ven stuttered through chattering teeth.
"I'm guessing dinner decided to come back up?" Terra asked sticking a hand to Ven's forehead and grimacing.
As usual, the blond had to think about the strange question for a bit before understanding what Terra meant.
"M'mm." he nodded, his lip trembling and head bowed.
"Hey, it's alright. You'll be okay." Terra soothed hurriedly, wrapping an arm around Ven's shoulders and leading him back to his room. Once there, he left Ven near his bed than proceeded to dig through the blond's small dresser until he found a long sleeved turtle neck and some soft fleece pants.
He handed the clothes to Ven, "Put these on, I'll be right back." He directed with a quick grin and pat on the head before leaving to jog down the hall, careful to dodge anything sticking out. Back in his own room, he grabbed two pieces of paper and quickly scrawled two notes for Master Eraqus in case he came looking for them in the morning. Leaving, he wedged one of the notes in between his closed door and frame and jogged back to Ven's room.
The blond was still standing in the middle of the floor, but he had changed clothes and gave Terra a small smile when he returned.
"Good, out in the hall." Terra pointed, flashing a smile, passing Ven to rip the blanket off his bed before following and closing the door.
"Where'r we goin'" Ven asked weakly, watching Terra cram the other note into his door frame.
"Aqua's room. I hate to wake her but her bed's wider than mine." Terra answered, throwing Ven's blanket over the blond's shaking frame and scooping him up off the floor. Ven gave a small grunt in response, curling into the warmth of Terra's chest.
Halfway down the hall, Terra was relieved to see Aqua exit her room and head towards him, worry quickening her steps. "What's the matter?" she asked when they got close, voice hushed.
"Ven's scared. 's got the flu. Figured you room would be better than mine or his." Terra explained in the same quiet tones.
"Scared? Wh- Oh, first time being sick. I see." Aqua whispered, touching Ven's hot forehead. "Go get comfortable, I'll get some cool water." she commanded, pointing before running down the hall.
When she returned, she found Terra sitting on the edge of her bed with Ven still curled up against him. "He doesn't want to let go." He explained with a small shrug.
"You're warm." Ven mumbled in clarification.
"Oh, don't try to be coy, Terra. I already know you were planning on being his personal space heater for the night. My bed's the only one that will fit all three of us." Aqua chided lightly, throwing two extra pillows on the bed.
Terra gave a short, sheepish laugh and switched to the horizontal plane, rearranging the pillows and blanket to a more comfortable arrangement under their heads. Aqua set the bowl of water on the night stand next to her bed and slid in behind Ven, staying upright so that she could easily access the rag and water, wringing the former out a little and placing it on Ven's head.
After a while of Terra and Aqua alternating turns on rubbing his back and shoulder, Ven spoke up, "I've decided I don't like being sick, does it happen often?" he asked, almost asleep.
Terra chuckled, "Not really, no. Depends on the person. But I don't think anyone likes being sick either, even though most people just sleep though it." he answered, eyes closed.
"You'll feel better in a couple of days, I promise." Aqua added, sinking down to sleep for the rest of the night.
"Mmm, thank you guys." Ven muttered, drifting off.
"Any time." Aqua whispered.

When dawn broke the sky, Master Eraqus found an empty breakfast table where three apprentices were usually chowing down. A trip to Terra's room redirected him to Aqua's via a shorthanded note stuck in the door frame. A short time later found him watching his three apprentices sleep, the youngest wedged in between the two older, curled under two blankets and an almost dry cloth folded on his head. Terra was closest to the wall and had one arm draped over Ven. The other was stretched out underneath the pillows, acting as a second cushion and a small amount of drool decorated the pillow above Ven's head. Aqua was curled at the edge, most likely the last to fall asleep.
Master Eraqus gave a small sigh, the barest hint of a smile on his face. Looks like this morning's training was canceled.</sub>

Haha, so I found out about Ven loosing his memories 'cause I wanted to know how they'd all met and eventually I realized that everything in the world was now brand new to him again. (Na'aawww) Which led to this doodle and one shot. ^_^
I also blame the mention of Terra being used as a pillow by someone I don't remember and my love of sleeping pictures.

Tried to get a softer look to the colors. Not quite completely satisfied with it, but oh well. ^_^
