"Hey, Lightning Lad, do you have a minute?" Cosmic boy asked, dragging a chair next to his fellow teammate and sitting down, legs straddling the back. The red head tapped the pause button for his movie and slipped the headphones off, placing them on the desk before turning to look at Cosmic Boy. "Sure, what's on your mind?" "I was wondering if I could convince you to talk to Brainy a little. He and Invisible Kid don't seem to be getting along very well and I'd rather not have to displace either of them." Cosmic Boy explained, irritation creeping into his voice. Garth snorted, "What are you talking about, they're getting along just fine. I haven't heard anything blow up since Brainy came back." the red head was grinning, obviously thinking Cosmic Boy was over analyzing things again. "Have you not been here the past month?" Rokk demanded, "He's kicked him out of the lab six times in as many days. Invisible Kid spends more time fuming in the lounge than anything else." Garth snickered, "Well it is his lab. You can't expect him to give it up so easy." Cosmic Boy sighed, annoyed. "Listen, Garth - " he started, but the red-head interrupted him. "Rokk, trust me, things are going just fine with them. Brainy doesn't like new people and you know that. He really is getting along with people better than before. Most likely case is he's just stressed out right now and can't deal with having a foreigner in his lab." Lightning Lad explained with a shrug, "Give his some time, he'll learn to work with Lyle." "It's been six months, Garth." Cosmic Boy retorted, then suddenly grew still when he noticed someone else was standing next to Garth, tugging on his shirt sleepily. "Could you get everyone to quiet down, I'm sleepy." the newcomer mumbled, rubbing at his eye. Without looking, Garth twisted and pulled them onto his lap, letting them use him as a pillow. "Sleep here, I'll put you to bed in a bit." He answered, never taking his eyes off Rokk. "It took me more than two years to be able to tolerate him," he started, continuing the previous conversation. He stopped though, when he noticed Rokk was staring at him with his eyes wide in disbelief. "What's the matter with you?" Garth asked. Usually Cosmic Boy wouldn't be affected by the unusual interruption. Since Garth was one of the original three who started the Legion of Superheroes and also the first Legionnaire to get married and have kids, he'd come to be known as the Legion's 'dad' and regularly had members going to him instead of their current leader. Requests for him to shut people up were a daily occurrence. "Do you realize who you just picked up?" Cosmic Boy managed to ask after gaping wordlessly for a few more seconds. At this, Garth looked down to find that the kid who now had his cheek against his chest was none other than Brainiac 5, blissfully asleep with an uncharacteristic smile. "Huh. I thought it was Graym." Garth admitted, unfazed. "Told you he was loosening up." Rokk remained speechless. "Still, it's a bit odd for him to be napping." Garth mused, and turned towards the door. "Hey, Bouncy!" he called. "What?" Chuck answered, bouncing into the room only to join Cosmic Boy in staring. "Is that. . .?" "Did someone give Brainy anything?" Garth asked, ignoring the obvious question. Bouncing Boy shook his head back into focus, "Um, yeah. About twenty minutes ago. He had a headache, so I gave him some pain killers." "How much?" Lightning Lad demanded. "The usual dose." Bouncy answered, "Three." "Oh brother. That's what I thought." Garth sighed, slumping back in the chair. "Isn't that the right amount?" Chuck asked, confused. He'd been drilled before on basic meds and dosage, so he was sure he'd gotten it right. "For anyone else it is," Garth assured, "But Brainy is hypersensitive, so he should only be given a third of the normal amount." he explained. "Aw, man! I'm sorry, he didn't say anything." Bouncy fretted. "Should we do anything?" Cosmic Boy asked, uneasy. "Yeah. Don't wake him up." Garth stressed, putting a finger in front of his mouth to shush them. "Last time he got really loopy, but he was fine after he slept it off for a while." "Loopy, huh." Bouncy cocked his head to the side, "I guess that explains the dopey expression." ________________________________________
Just felt like drawing something cute and silly. The story came after. Ignore the medical inaccuracies, I'm not a doctor. First time drawing that angle that Garth's head is in. Dumb goatee.
Thanks~ I love Big brother Garth too.
