Origin:

Angels are one of the few races of the universe who do not originate from a specific world. They’re spread throughout all of the worlds, and some worlds may not even be aware of their presence there. An Angel’s origin can vary between 3 differences and which way usually correlates to the world and culture they are being born into. For example if it would be highly unusual for someone to just suddenly exist in a world and if that happened the person would not be well received then the angel will born from a mother instead.

Some are born like many other beings (from a mother) and are simply beings born as a different race regardless of their parents. Those who originate in this way must age like normal and some may not even be aware that they are an Angel for a long time.

Some originate through a racial shift after death. A being lives their life as they normally would, but once they die they are reborn as an Angel. Sometimes they keep their memories, sometimes only part of the memories transfer, and sometimes they remember nothing.

Some simply come into being as an angel for that world and do not always look like a baby from the beginning.

*The Angels are actually the servants of Aitheras personally blessed by Aesa. Once Aesa died her 4 siblings continue to create Angels to honor her memory, though most of the Angels don’t have any knowledge of the Seele and simply believe they are to help other beings.

Appearance:

Angels have 2 forms; one that blends into their surroundings and one that shows their true race.

The first form often mimics that of one of the races native to that world, and more often than not it is one of the most common ones. The Angel’s appearance can look like anything within that base race’s features, and are always considered to be attractive. Note that this only applies for races that are relatively humanoid. (Aka they won’t look awkward when you stick a pair of wings on their back.)

The second form, also known as their true form, looks much the same as the first except for an addition of feathered, white wings on their back and detailed halos circling their heads like floating crowns.

Wings:

True Angels will only have white wings of which the size varies but will always be reasonably large compared to their body. The wings can be shown to other beings without risking looking like their worst nightmare.

Color: The feathers of the wings are such an intense hue of white that they almost appear to glow. They actually do not as they will not be visible in situations with no light, but it is a common misconception.

Size: The shortest wingspan reaches between 2 to 3 times their arm length. The width of each wing can range from only reaching their hips to extending down to their knees.

Halos:

An Angel’s halo will always be around their head and cannot be removed in the sense that someone can take it away and put it somewhere else. The most common color for them are various shades of golds but there are a few who have other metallic shades such as bronze or silver. It is unclear why these variations are present.

The amount of detail in the halo is a vague representation of the power of that Angel. Ranging from simple rings to highly complex patterns, the more detail there is the stronger the Angel is. It is possible for a halo to change shape since power levels are not static, but the changes tend to be slow.

Halo’s can only be seen when and Angel is showing their true form, which means that only the pure hearted beings are able to see them. Even then it’s not wise to touch the Angel’s halo for it’s connected directly to their Core and therefore is very sensitive and feels weird in their chest.

Lore:

It is believed that all Angels are born in order to assist the people of the world they are on, and all Angels have that idea in their minds from birth. It is not a curse, or driving force with set punishments or rewards, but all Angels seem to have at least a small focus on this aspect. Consequently they tend to take jobs that allow them to directly help others, or will wander the world providing small ‘miracles’ for people. Of course this does bring the reward of pleasant feelings for assisting another, but there is no dire need for this feeling other than what is similarly felt in other races.

In some cultures it is also commonly believed that Angels have knowledge about things that happen after one dies. Whether or not there are deities, what happens to the soul, if there is a Heaven or Hell, etcetera. There is presently no way to verify for certainty any of the information given about such topics, therefore no one is able to confirm whether or not Angels actually know about them. Some claim they do, others claim they don’t.

Abilities: (Primary: Aitheras, Secondary: Atma)

Magic Resistance: (Passive Skill) Aitheras

All angels have a resistance to all offensive energy based magics, with a notably high resistance to ‘holy’ types. It is still possible for them to be harmed by such things, but it would take an immense amount of power and is generally counterproductive.

Seight: (Passive Skill) Atma

The ability to see Auras, a visual representation of emotions, and read them to some extent. Though it may be hard for them to put what they see into words they are able to use this ability to further understand other beings and determine whether or not they could use a helping hand.

Angels are not able to manipulate any Aura, including their own other than the natural movements from emotions and thoughts.

There may be some unique cases where an angel sees something in an Aura that they are not able to understand. Sometimes they are good things, sometimes bad and even that much information may be beyond what they’re able to determine.

Some Angels are able to feel an emotion from someone else if that emotion is intense enough, though what the Angel feels will be a mere fraction of what the person near them is actually feeling.

Because Auras have a temperature to them, Angels are not actually able to feel the temperature of anything around them other than Auras unless they are in direct contact with it. Their bodies are still affected by hot and cold things, but a lot of times they’ll burn themselves on something because they can’t tell it’s hot until they touch it. The same with cold things.

Bestowed Seight: (Active Skill) Atma

While Angels are one of the few beings in the universe who are able to see Auras they are one of the fewer races who are able to temporarily bestow that ability to another being. This ability must be used with care though since it relies on the other being’s own energies resulting in most creatures only being able to handle seeing Auras for 10 - 15 minutes maximum. Any longer and they will naturally reject the skill, which will cause some harm to their own body but most of the kickback will affect the angel.

In addition to the energy drain the shift from not being able to see Auras to suddenly being able to can be shocking and overwhelming since Auras are spread everywhere and the sight can be disorienting.

In order to use this skill the Angel must be in direct contact with the one they are using the skill on for the entire time the skill is being used. Breaking the contact will automatically stop the skill without any harmful side effects.

Healing Touch/Blessing: (Active Skill) Aitheras

Another skill that only works with direct contact, Angels are able to heal most wounds with Healing magic that is activated through touch. The magic is almost completely scripted despite there being no movement or any vocal or visible inscriptions and reacts according to the type of wound that it comes into contact with. This skill is usually an easier and/or faster healing skill than what can be done with song. It’s a separate skill from song Magic because, while it is still sang scripts, all Angels are born able to use this skill without having to sing vocally, their Cores do it easily.

Angelic Choir: (Active Skill) Aitheras

There are various types of magics that an Angel can invoke through vocal song. These can range from buffs and debuff to offensive or defensive magic. The more complex the magic the more complex the song and the more it drains from the Angel. Some magics are limited to only being active as long as the Angel is singing while others work for a limited period of time after the song is completed. The overall skill name comes from the fact that every song that is sung sounds like a multitude of voices even if there is only one Angel actually singing at the time.

Some magic is only able to be used when multiple Angels are singing at once, and when that happens the layers of their voices adjust to each other so the overall sound is not convoluted and annoying. Part of the Magic works because of the layered voices, and therefore if one takes away the layering somehow the Magic will be weakened.

Visage: (Active Skill) Aitheras

This skill does not have any actual opponent altering properties at all as it’s use does not result in any effect other than what the viewer has as a reaction. Visage is basically the allowance for other people to see an Angel’s true form however only certain people end up seeing the real true form. These people are a hazy group without a definitive set of classifications that qualify them, but various cultures have commonly deemed them as people who are pure, good, destined for Heaven, and similar terms. The opposite type of person, those who are deemed as evil, impure, hellbound and such, end up seeing a visual representation of their worst fear. While the distinction is hazy for most people, it can simply be split up into those who follow Anima’s will, and those who fight against it.

It is possible for someone’s status to change over time, meaning that even though you see the real Angel once that doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to see them again years down the road if you change in a bad way.

The Visage works through a subconscious reading of the viewer’s soul, and if they are found to be a follower of Anima then they see the Angel’s true form. If they are found to be against Anima then a mild mind magic is placed over them, deluding them into thinking they see what they most fear. The mind magic is a constant drain on the Angel’s Energy, so they aren’t able to keep that visage up indefinitely.

When the Angel switches to their true form, often called “drop their visage” by those familiar with them, their clothing changes because of Energy to material conversion. Their attire in their true form reflects their personal tastes, but the dominant colors throughout the race are white with gold or light blue (the color of Aitheras) accents.

Soul Seight: (Passive) Aitheras

In addition to their ability to see Essences Angels are also able to catch a glimpse of other beings souls, but only in the few moments after their death. They are not able to touch the souls, but since they can see each other there is a possibility for a few seconds of exchange. Really the only use this skill has is to be able to tell whether or not the soul is at peace.
