CE: Love For Two

Entering the room Ourin stepped lightly, bare feet making no sound on the soft carpet. Mauris was tucked in a little bundle of fluffy blankets and sleep messed hair in his arms and he could hear Amery’s slow, soft breaths. Part of him knew why Yua had told him to be here, but the rest of him wouldn’t let him think about it.

Moving over to the bed Ourin trace his finger up his wife’s leg under the covers ever so gently but enough to get her to look over and give the tiniest smile; a sight that earned a smile from Ourin in return even though they could barely see each other in the dim light. “[Hey. . .]” Her voice was so soft, but happy to see him.

“[Good evening, my beautiful dream.]” Ourin returned softly as well, though not as quiet as she was. Reaching her side Ourin very carefully lifted her up so that he could squeeze himself down underneath her, smothering into the pillows. “[Look who I brought with me.]” He directed gently, moving Mauris carefully so that she could see him and feeling just a bit of a bigger smile spread as her’s did too.

“[My beautiful little precious spring.]” Amery glowed, reaching up with agonizing slowness to try and touch her little eight month old baby even though she had no strength to raise her hand more than a few inches from the bed. Seeing this Ourin tenderly slid his hand under hers and raised it so her arm was bent into the perfect little pocket to tuck Mauris into, keeping his arm underneath her’s to support it so they could hold their son together. Giving a small giggle, Mauris reached up towards Amery before turning to curl against her with happy cooing.

They then spent the next few minutes cooing back at Mauris and giving soft giggles. Tickling him a little, Ourin making faces as they both giggled at them. The best moment they’d all had in weeks.

“[How are you?]” Came her next question, a little sigh in content as her finger traced on the back of his hand that was resting on Mauris’ chest.

Ourin gave a soft chuckle at that, Just a little disbelief at how she could be worried about him right now, but it faded fast. She was his wife after all. “[I’ll be fine.]” He assured, giving her a peck on the temple and swaying with her just a little. Not too much. He didn’t want to make her more tired. “[Everyone is taking good care of me. So don’t worry, I’ll still be able to keep up with you when you get better.]” The last part was a lie, and deep down they both knew it but didn’t want to admit it.

They began to talk a little more. About Mauris. About the rest of their family, even the ones who weren’t blood related. About future plans together. As time passed Ourin became the one talking more and more. Amery just listening to his voice and humming every once and awhile to let him know she was still listening. Eventually they fell into silence, just enjoying having a moment to themselves while rocking back and forth slowly and snuggling as a famliy. After a time Amery spoke up once more, sounding if possible even more weak and breathless.


“[Rin?. . .]” She began again, waiting for a soft hum from him to be sure he was listening. She smiled again, forcing herself to raise a hand to cup his cheek even as he smiled back and placed a hand over hers. It took her a moment to speak again, and her eyes were tearing up. “[. . . give. . . give the love you have for me to Mauris. . . . rely on him as much as you’re there for him. . . you’ll be okay.]” As a tear broke free and slipped down her cheek she tugged Ourin forward, bringing their lips together for a soft kiss. One last kiss before she pulled back a few centimeters and exhaled her final breath. “[I love you. . .]”

As Amery’s breath left and what seemed like minutes passed without her taking another Ourin pulled back and raised a shaking hand to her cheek, vision already starting to blur. “[A’ . . . A’ammy?]” His breaking voice came barely audible, fingers sweetly caressing her cheekbone even as his throat started closing on itself. “[A’aa. . ]” His words choked on themselves, tears spilling over his cheeks now even as Mauris whimpered and Ourin’s whole body began to shake. Leaning forward, burying his face in the nape of Amery’s neck and fingers lacing in with her’s even as they grew cold he started to rock back and forth. All the emotion that had been building up, everything he had been smothering away for a long while now, finally broke free.

Ourin screamed, and the oceans echoed it in it’s own high wail.

. . ."And it should stay with you anyway. I just wanted to tell you to be careful, Ourin, but I know how much you care about Mauris. Much more than I ever could, because I'm only one and you have love enough for two people to give, right?" . . .

If there was one thing that he wished he could selfishly ask for was that Mauris never felt unloved or jealous of other kids who still had both their parents. He could never bring himself to love another wife, but at least for now Mauris would be able to feel a bit of his mother's love through him.

I just wanted to draw some fluff between Ourin and Mauris and Amery went and got in the pic too.

For those who don't know Amery is Ourin's wife and Mauris' mother. She was pretty much Ourin's only love in regards to women, giving everything he had to her. She ended up dying of a rare illness when Mauris was 8 months old where her life energy just basically drained away in the space of a month. Cephorim's greatest Healer couldn't do anything for her, and Ourin constantly linked his own energy to Amery to try and save her but it only serves to help ease the constant ache she was in.
Obviously the story clip up there is her last moments, which was freaking hard to write amg I was practically sobbing before I was even halfway and had to cut it shorter than originally intended. OTL

Anyways~ Just a little extra info about my over sized baby and his boy. Thanks for looking and reading. ;v;
